About

Smith's Acres LLC is a family owned and operated garden center and farm stand nestled in downtown Niantic. We are staffed by a wonderful group of women affectionately referred to as "Veggie Girls", a name coined years ago by one of our nephews. Hardworking, artistic, fun-loving - these women who are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to help you become successful in your garden.

We are all about everything local and carry exclusively CT grown annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs.  The vast majority of vegetable & herb plants, annuals and hanging baskets come right from our farm in East Lyme.

Why Smith's Acres?

Our Staff

Our knowledgeable Veggie Girls will help you choose the plumpest ripe tomatoes for dinner, plant up a terrarium for you, and advice you on which perennials would grow well together, all with a smile.

Our Mission

Our Food

In addition to the freshest produce around, we get deliveries from local bakeries of fresh baked pies, muffins, brownies and cookies.

Fresh bread is delivered daily.

We also have a full line of jams, relishes, pickles, and salad dressings made especially for us.

Farmer's Cow brings us fresh eggs, milks and cream each week.

We now carry locally made Kombucha and granola and chips. Be sure to check out our spices! All packaged by a CT company for us.

Our Plants

Our state-of-the-art greenhouse has enabled us to properly showcase the awesome plants that Joe grows at the farm, and has given all of the "Veggie Girls" a chance to hone their artistic talents and build some beautiful displays for your shopping pleasure. Any annual or perennial or shrub that we buy in, are all grown within less than 50 miles of here--we KNOW where our plants come from!

HOUSEPLANTS

They have become more and more popular lately. We grow plenty ourselves, but not enough. We bring some up from Florida and get regular deliveries from local wholesale growers. Looking for something in particular? Ask us and we will do our best to find it for you.
